Dialysis
Dialysis is a treatment that takes over the function of the kidneys when these organs stop working.
There are two types of dialysis.
Hemodialysis: Blood is passed through an extracorporeal filter, washed, and then returned. This is done at the dialysis center or at home.
Peritoneal Dialysis: Your blood is cleaned in your body. A special fluid is placed in the abdomen to absorb waste products from the blood that passes through the small blood vessels in the abdominal cavity. After that, the liquid is drained. This type of dialysis is usually done at home.
